• October 6th, 2020: Alexandros gave an invited talk at the APS Gaseous Electronics Conference 2020, presenting the group’s latest results on neutral gas flow velocimetry using CRBS (http://meetings.aps.org/Meeting/GEC20/Session/JT3.1), while Junhwi gave a talk presenting the custom made, dual color CRBS laser system that made it all possible (http://meetings.aps.org/Meeting/GEC20/Session/JT3.2)!

• August 5th, 2020: Alexandros’ paper in collaboration with Drew Elliott (ORNL) on a novel fiber based concept for Thomson scattering spectroscopy got published at Applied Optics (https://doi.org/10.1364/AO.397599)

• July 21st, 2020: Robert is participating at the prestigious 2020 Siegman International School on Lasers, organized by the Optical Society of America, presenting our group’s work on CRBS!

• January 15th, 2020: Dr. Junhwi Bak joins our group as a Post-Doctoral Researcher. Dr. Bak was previously working at the Komurasaki-Koizumi Laboratory, Aero-Astro Department, University of Tokyo, Japan, from which he also obtained his PhD. Howdy and welcome!

• January 7th, 2020: Alexandros presented the paper ” Gas flow velocity and density limit estimates for single shot coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering” (in collaboration with Mikhail Shneider, Princeton University) at the 2020 AIAA SciTech Forum, in Orlando, Florida.

Alexandros presented a workshop talk about “Non-resonant, four wave mixing laser diagnostic techniques”, as well as the group’s research endeavors with “Velocity distribution function measurement of heavy species in weakly ionized plasma flows via coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering” (in collaboration with Kentaro Hara, Stanford University, and Mikhail Shneider, Princeton University).

• July 2019: Our group, together with that of Prof. Kentaro Hara, has been awarded with an NSF grant to investigate the validity of LTE in arc discharges using CRBS & OES!

• June 2019: Alexandros attended the “Laser Diagnostics in Energy and Combustion Science” at Les Diablerets, Switzerland.

• June 2019: Alexandros gave two seminars regarding CRBS at CNRS-ICARE in Orleans, France (icare.cnrs.fr) and at the EM2C group (em2c.centralesupelec.fr) at École CentraleSupélec in Paris, France.

• June 2019: Dimitrios, currently doing his PhD at the University of Patras, Greece under the supervision of Dr. Panagiotis Svarnas, joined our group for the summer as a visiting scholar! Welcome & Howdy!

• January 9th 2019: Alexandros presented the talk “Towards single shot gas flow velocity and temperature measurements with coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering” at the AIAA SciTech meeting in San Diego, California.

• November 8th 2018: Alexandros presented the talk “Single shot gas and weakly ionized plasma flow measurements with coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering” at the 71st APS Gaseous Electronics Conference in Portland, Oregon.

• October 2018 – present: Construction of the CRBS lab has began! We are currently housed at the National Aerothermochemistry Laboratory (https://nal.tamu.edu/) until our new home is built!

• September 2018: Alexandros started as an Assistant Professor at the Aerospace Engineering Department, Texas A&M University.
